Giuseppe Garau is an italian writer-director, born in Sardegna and based in Torino.
Obsessed with film grammar and influenced by the hardcore-punk scene, his work reflects a bold and uncompromising vision.

In 2024, his debut narrative feature film “L’Incidente” (The Accident) won Grand Jury Prize at Slamdance, establishing him as a distinctive new voice in independent cinema. ”L’Incidente” was included in “The Best 50 2025 Films You Might Have Missed” by The Film Stage and is distributed by Fandor (US/Canada) and by Navona Films (Italy). The film was also recognized in Italy by SNCCI (Sindacato Nazionale Critici Cinematografici Italiani) and Cineforum for Best Debut Feature.

Garau has served on the National Competition Jury at the 54th Molodist Kyiv International Film Festival and is a member of Slamdance programming team for Narrative Shorts.
Currently, he’s working on the development of his second feature.
